The Writer's Voice – FIRST SUBMISSION ROUND NOW OPEN!

Note to all writers planning to try for a slot in tonight's window: You must COPY AND PASTE your blog address from the URL bar when you sign up for "The Writer's Voice." Otherwise, the widget might kick you out. So if I were you, I'd have my blog open in another window and the URL copied before 9:00 p.m. EDT so that all I'd have to do is type in my name and paste my URL.

Please note that WE’RE ONLY ACCEPTING 75 ENTRIES IN THE FIRST SUBMISSION WINDOW. We're closing the widget at 75 entries, so if more than 75 people sign up, WE WILL DELETE THE ADDITIONAL ENTRIES and ask those people to try again in the second submission window. After signing up on the widget below, go to the previous post here for the Official Contest Information on how to send your submission.

To enter the contest, sign up on the linky below now!

Mister Linky's Magical Widgets -- Easy-Linky widget will appear right here!

  10. Whoa! 6:01 and I didn't make it. I'll shoot for later in the day.

Even if I don't get in, though, I thank you heartily. I got my query into great shape thanks to your deadline, and to examples I found here on your blog.

    2. You can try again at 9 EST tonight. Cupid said that they'd delete all entries after the first 75 and put the widget up again tonight. I just kept refreshing then had my blog up to enter the link.

    1. Now that the excitement of acquiring a slot in the contest has eased I feel a little bad for all those who didn't quite make it.
Especially you Rachel, you see it also showed me as entry number 7, then when I refreshed I was bumped to entry 66 (an especially significant number in relation to my entry).

  16. So confused, I had to submit my entry three times before it didn't delete itself. Ah, well, I'll try again tonight... no wait, I'm working a show. Oh, well.

  21. Hooray #40! Thanks for the opportunity!

  22. Okay, so that was crazy! When I pulled up the site at 9am on the dot there were 4 entries, I took all of 10 seconds to enter my info and I am submission number 135 at 9:02! I know it only goes to 75, I don't want you all to think I was trying to sneak in, it just was that quick! Crazy, hope I get into the next window! ugh

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yikes! I ended up as 79. See ya tonight! And huge thanks to Cupid and all the other awesome bloggers who came up with this contest!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. That was insanely fast! At 9:02 all 150 slots were filled...shouldn't have gone for to make that coffee!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Woah, when I entered, it said I was eighth, and now I'm nowhere in the submissions :-(

    1. Same thing happened to me!!! I was already to post on my blog too =(

    2. Same! I wondered what happened!

    3. Yeah, I got bumped too. Ah, well. Lots of people refreshing fast, I guess!

    4. Those little 'temporary' numbers obviously lie. Probably stems from having the Widget scattered over 4 blogs. When they all meshed, we got the boot.

      Delete
    5. I went from #4 to #30... still in, not complaining. I think it had to do with the four blogs compiling their results.

      Delete
    6. That's what happened to me. It told me #43 and I didn't buy it. I hit refresh and my number turned into #96. The most crazy part though, was that I was sitting online, counting down and had Brenda's blog opening as the clock flipped to 9am, and when the page flashed up, there were ALREADY 40 entries! Crazy awesome spasticness. Hoping I get in later.

    7. I already left this at Krista's:

For all those who saw one number and then refreshed (it happened to me too, moved from 25 to 58) it's due to the nature of the linky list and how it polls the data from all the sites. When you first signed in, it hadn't had time to poll all the other entries. It doesn't mean anyone was deleting you, or that you did anything wrong, it's just the nature of the internet.

Best of luck to all who made it in!

  29. I haz a sad. I was third to comment, having already submitted my link, but I got position #116. Is this an internet connection problem? Alas.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, urgh. Made 146. Try again tonight, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I keep staring at my number @.@ It's so surreal. I really didn't think I would make it! Even with the bump! (#7-41)

OH PLEASE LOVE ME, ALMIGHTY JUDGES.

Do judges take bribes? I'll do all your homework! HA.

  32. This is the 4th time I'm trying to comment :( I was literally on the blog when the widget post had 0 comments, and the widget at that time had thed same messsage it has right now! I kept refreshing and couldn't do anything as I saw comments filling up; I was on time, but the widget didn't even show up on my page. I was freaking out :( now I missed it. Is there a reason the widget didn't show up on my computer? Do we need a special software installed to see it? So depressed :(

    1. No worries! You have another chance tonight at 9pmEDT.

I don't know why it wouldn't show up on your computer, it worked for my iPad. Usually things don't work for my iPad. That's weird.

  33. Congrats to all who were able to sign up! Best of luck!

  34. Got in at #61, so excited for this great opportunity! Yay for writing!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Okay, firstly, CONGRATS to all who got in!!! Secondly, HOW THE FRAK DID YOU MANAGE IT???

I mean it was FIERCE! I was sitting on Blogger (with high speed internet) when the clock flipped to 9AM. When Brenda's blog opened, there were ALREADY 40 entries! It told me I was 43, which I didn't believe, and sure enough, when I hit refresh, it turned out that I was 93, not 43. And by then there were something like 154 entries. And you know what the clock said? 9:01 and 23 seconds. TOTALLY AMAZING. I'm just flabbergasted. Most awesome contest rush EVER.

I'm going to try again at 9PM, but if the competition's as stiff as it was this morning (and I hope it will be) I doubt I'll make it because the internet at home is slower. But who knows.

Again, super huge congrats to everyone who made this round!!! GOOD LUCK!!! :D

  36. Congrats to everyone who made it through! A nice old man started talking to me this morning about my knee injury and I missed the submission window. Who can ignore the commiserating elderly? Oh well, there's always tonight, if I can type fast enough!

@Sarah Marie- hi! *waves* I'm a Sarah Marie too! Good luck getting in!

  37. Hello everyone!

Thanks for your patience and understanding during these crazy crazy times! As said above, it takes the widget a small amount of time to fully update with the fours sites going. The final number is the REAL number.

Also, I believe the widget is picky with your urls. If it isn't exactly right it will throw you out. I would copy it from the address bar and then paste it right into the widget tonight.

I wish we didn't have to deal with all this techy stuff, but alas, we must.

I believe tonight should be less crazy since 75 people have already made it in.

    Good luck and thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. CUPID, FYI, I've been visiting all the blogs, to say hi, and it looks like number 67 - tonja Drecker, accidentally added as extra S so her url is ...blogspotS.com. If you remove that S, the url then takes you to her actual blog. If you want to let whoever admins the linky list know, they should be able to fix it.

      Thanks. :)

  43. I just took a snapshot of the page, to keep access to the list. I don't envy the ladies their task of breaking it to those above 150 who think they are into the contest. [lowers his voice and whispers "176 is a much nicer number than 150...")

Good luck to each and every one of the entrants, including those who missed the chop - you are all deserving of a spot.
