The Writer's Voice – THIRD SUBMISSION ROUND WILL OPEN AT 12PM EDT!

Please note that WE’RE ONLY ACCEPTING 25 MORE ENTRIES (STOPPING AT ENTRY #200) IN THE THIRD SUBMISSION WINDOW. We're closing the widget at 200 entries, so if it goes over 200, WE WILL DELETE THE ADDITIONAL ENTRIES and send a notice on Twitter when the submission is over. After signing up on the widget below, go to the official contest information post here on how to send your submission.

WARNING: You must enter your URL (blog address) correctly or the widget might DISQUALIFY you. I would copy and paste.

To enter the contest, sign up on the widget below. MAKE SURE TO REFRESH YOUR SCREEN AT 12PM EDT TO SEE THE WIDGET OPEN.

Mister Linky's Magical Widgets -- Easy-Linky widget will appear right here!
This preview will disappear when the widget is displayed on your site.
For best results, use HTML mode to edit this section of the post.

  1. Me too :) Except I entered twice by accident (176 and 204) because the first time it had my book blog name... but 204 isn't valid anyway. Is there anyway you can edit off the wrong blog name for me? Thanks for this opportunity!

  3. Well, Hell's Pit. The Fraking widget STILL NEVER SHOWED UP FOR ME. On any of the blogs *rends hair and throws in the towel*

Congrats to everyone who got in!

  4. C. Taxer and R. Wheeler - That's lovely. I got in on my screen at 190 and when I refreshed I was at 202... Nice.

    Congratulations to everyone else.

  5. Soo, was 190, then suddenly 202? What kind of system is this, how does that work? When we finally saw the widget we entered and got in at 190, then upon refresh, it says 202. Any comment?

    1. the widget was across several blogs, so it shows you one number, but when the widget talks to the other three blogs and collates by time, you get moved down. Yesterday I thought I was number 6... then the widget updated and I was number 111 (the cut off for that one was 75).

  8. I did it! That was really stressful. I need to rest now.

  9. When you start to type your information, it places the next value as your entry number, because it hasn't actually refreshed yet.

Like, the folks who were super quick on the trigger and had the widget pop up right away, well, most of them saw 176 when they submitted. Only once it pinged the most recent results were we put into proper order.

    That's how numbers jumped. :)

  10. 196 - good God! A echo everyone's comments - I was also unlucky yesterday morning and last night - but this time I refreshed like a mad man. That is one heart-stopping widget!

Thanks for opening the third submission window! Looking forward to participating!

  11. I got in yesterday, thankfully. But what about invalid submissions? I'm sure someone would like that spot. For example, C Smith is 150 and 162. Good luck, all! I'm off to post my story!

  12. I was 206. I hit refresh like six times before I realized the darned widget was BELOW all the previous names! I would have been in if I only SCROLLED DOWN SOONER! *conks self on head with comically oversized mallet*

Congrats to everyone who made it in! I can't wait for the competition to begin!

  14. I had the same (too late) realization as Laura H, MittensMorgul, and I was disappointed not to get in. But I believe in my book; there will be other opportunities. And I want to thank the bloggers who went to so much trouble. I don't see any advertising here, I don't see anyone making money off this. Folks went to some effort to pay it forward, and that's a very cool way to be part of the writing/publishing community.

  15. Congrats to those who made it through (now go post on your blogs)!

I hate it for those who didn't get in. : (

  16. You guys are so nice to give your time like this... I wish I could read all the entries, but I will at least be checking back to see the teams and how it goes from there. Good luck everyone!

  18. So, the widget was below the names even though it showed a whited-out dead widget above the names? So, I did not get in for the third time even though I hovered over my computer and hard refreshed. the widget never showed for me in the place it had been before.

While I appreciate your sentiment and stated intent to help writers, I'm going to make a suggestion (for future reference) that perhaps a timed widget window is not the best way to do that.

Personally, I feel like I was put through the ringer repeatedly in an exercise in futility for no apparent reason. Don't get me wrong, I can take rejection, critique, input. I have a wicked sense of perseverance (like most writers) but this felt like a three time set-up, each time with a different "magic" thing you had to figure out/know to succeed that had nothing to do with writerly skill at all.

This is not sour grapes talking. I'm happy for those who made it. I just have to ask myself and you wonderful bloggesses-- Seriously, there wasn't a better, less agonizing way to do this?

    1. I have to second the suggestion (though I did get in on the third try). Everyone likes a good adrenaline rush once in a while, but given the speed with which the contest filled up, some less gremlin-prone method might be the way to go in the future.

  19. I'm so excited! Thank you for the opportunity, ladies! :)

  20. I'll 3rd that RIPPATTON. I created a blog and skipped plans to try for all 3 windows and the widget never showed up on 2 of the blogs. When I finally found it on another blog, I was too late. Every time. My excitement over the contest turned to frustration, and left me with shaking hands and a disappointed spirit. 3 times.

  21. Whew. I finally visited all 200 blogs. Congrats to everyone who made it!
