  3. Boy howdy! It's 9:00, I've been refreshing, the widget just showed up and it says it closed 5 minutes ago. It's definitely full! I'm not sure how that worked but I do appreciate the opportunity.

Like I said earlier, the contest gave me a deadline to get that query into shape. Thank you! Best of luck to everyone!

    1. It said 5 minutes ago because we had a false start. Then it showed up a tad late after 9 because of people signing up early.

  4. 143! I actually made it!! Btw--there were issues--the widget never appeared for a good while. I had to jump from site to site!

  8. The widget never showed for me, no matter how many times I refreshed.

I gotta say, I'm feeling a bit bummed that I hovered and then didn't even get a chance to enter at all.

  9. I had probs with the widget, too. Not sure if I made it in...

  10. The widget never even showed for me. I believe you have invented some kind of new literary torture the likes of which has never been seen before.

Slaves to the widget, one and all, upon our swords we now can fall!

    I shall now go weep.

    1. Okay, you made me smile, and I was nursing some serious hair rending because the widget never appeared on any blog, in any window, for me either, so I never even got to try. Which, it's not the failing I can't bear, it's the never trying.

But now that I can call myself a slave widget and pretend to fall on my sword for the rest of the evening, at least I can smile about it. Thank you for that :)

Everyone who didn't get in gets a retry tomorrow!!!!!!!

  11. okay, that was about the weirdest thing ever. This morning I thought I was in and wasn't. Tonight I figured I was out but there I am number 113.

    Too weird.

  12. I loaded it three times and never even saw the widget!

  13. Carmen Taxer and Richard Wheeler, no widget? Did not even show even though I have been refreshing the page since 5 minutes before?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Personally, I believe that using the same widget on multiple sites = bad idea.

  15. Interesting... I refreshed a bunch of times and the widget never appeared (it did this morning when I tried). It also said at 9:00 that it had expired 6 minutes ago. That time changed over refreshes, but it never stopped saying that it had expired. Technical difficulties adding an element of luck to the event? Good luck to those who made it in, regardless. :) Looking forward to seeing how the contest goes.

  19. Yes!!!! I got in! So excited. I had to hit the refresh button a couple of times and the number kept changing. I sent my email with the wrong number and had to resend it with the correct number.

  20. Good luck to everyone who made it in!

  21. I thought I didn't make it but I'm 105. Yippee, I'm in and excited.

Sorry to everyone who had trouble with the widget and didn't make it in. I was on this and Krista's site & the widget didn't show up here right away. On Krista's it was not doing anything after I hit "enter" so I thought I was out.

Good luck to those who made it and those who didn't with querying.

  22. Sorry for the complications!

Did anyone here see the widget working AFTER 9?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Not me. Not anywhere. In fact, it's still showing me the first 75 (on all the blogs) but saying that it's open. Without the widget.

      Delete
    2. I didn't ever see the widget. Hit refresh like 10 times since 9 pm, and it went from zero to like 176 entries in a second, without ever seeing the widget. Could be my computer is just slow. We're having a storm here that is quite scary, though, so my internet connection is acting a little wonky due to the massive lightning...

      Delete
    3. So you can see 176 entries Laura? I've shut down safari and restarted it, reloaded all the blogs and they're still telling me it's open (with no widget) and just showing 75 entries. So freaking wacky.

      Delete
    4. I arrived at your site from Love YA after 9 and was able to use your widget--though I was convinced I was too late, I'm #124!

      Delete
    5. There was no widget after 9. Then I left a comment, hit Publish, and there was the widget, already filled out. Like I did this morning. I hit publish and my name went on the list.

      *shakes head*

    6. When it showed up for me (I refreshed a billion times) the widget was closed. I was 178 though so I'm not sure if the "closed" was correct.

      Delete
    7. Yes, but only after a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5). But it was there.

    8. Man Huntress, I *almost* tried that, but I was so spastic, trying to get the other blogs up that I didn't want to waste the time. *slaps forehead and reaches for the scotch...*

    9. oH, poo.

Is that my Linky post from this morning? That would explain it.

I'm putting off my Snoopy dance for now. My entry appears in the same spot as this morning's Linky entry. Cupid might be reconsidering entries like mine.

    11. I didn't see it until it closed. It may have had to do with your popularity, Cupid! Too many people trying to use it at once.

    12. I had to hit refresh like ten times before the widget showed up. I didn't bother going to the other blogs, would've been a waste of time with my slow connection. But I DId see the widget and I DID get in, though it was shortly AFTER 9pm EDT.

  23. 169!

I must tell you, though, that I almost died. It was insane. So, a few minutes before 9:00 (8:oo PM here in Wisconsin), the widget showed up. I was very surprised and quickly wrote down my name. That turned out to be a false alarm, they were just setting things up, so I apologize for that.

After they erased the names that submitted early, the contest started. It was time, but the widget wouldn't show up. I refreshed, and refreshed, went to the other blogs, started yelling at the computer. . . AND had the not so brilliant idea to restart my browser.

I was certain I had missed this opportunity when the widget finally appeared and I got entry #169.

So sorry for the early inconvenience. And so thankful for this opportunity. CONGRATS, everyone!! Thank you!

    1. Okay, that's crazy that you saw it early! I was sitting hulking and obsessively refreshing and never saw it before 9. Then at nine, the blogs all posted, but I could never (and still haven't) seen the widget. Go figure. Skynet has taken over!

  24. It didn't show up for me for a while either and I was convinced I'd missed out when it suddenly appeared. I typed like the dickens and then there I was! #146! Yay!

Thanks for this opportunity! Emailing and posting my stuff now.

  25. I made it, too! So exiting! Thank you very much for the opportunity, and best of luck to those who entered!

  27. I couldn't see the enter spot for the widget on your blog for quite a while and I tried Brenda's too but it didn't appear there either. Then once it finally showed up I hit enter and ended up 185. :(

  28. Did the widget even appear on this site? I've seriously been refreshing since 5 minutes before the start. We missed it earlier, because the widget was on the homepage and not on the actual page url for the competition, and now because it seemed like the widget just did not appear?

Fine, we'll do this the traditional route, if you'd like to have a read anyway, here's the link:

  30. You know what, I'm going to go ahead and post my entry on my blog because writing takes that kind of psychotic perseverance and I've got it.

Anyone who wants to join me for the Writer's Voice losers party, hop over to my blog and post a link to your entry in the comments section. I'll read yours if you read mine, and the winner gets something better than a slap in the widget.

  34. It's 3:30am here now, I have no idea how I'm going to get to sleep again.

Got up at 2:30am to enter a competition, fearing that the weird issue that plagued the previous entry attempt would once again thwart me. Fear, hope, frantic action, much wailing and gnashing of teeth and then... The cold silence of rejection.

Anger, disbelief, the comments of those with the stars on their side fanning the flames of grief. All I can say is: "That's life." The real world.

A brief bright moment that has now passed. I will return again to my small patch of dark fantasy, where the hero will pass through hell for a brief glimpse of heaven. Will he succeed? Sure, tell yourself that. How will he succeed? Now that will take some telling...

  35. I retract my last statement. I was just like the rest of you. Refreshing every ten seconds. I even had all four blogs in separate tabs. I was counting down and then about died when the widget wasn't showing. I was over here cursing & throwing objects at the walls as the seconds slipped by me. Then, out of no where, I clicked the comments to see if other people were having the same trouble and the widget magically showed up. At that point I frantically typed my info in, laughing to myself and somehow I secured the #165 entry. After reading the morning contestants comments, I for sure thought there was a thirty second window before the entries booked up. I can't believe I made it in. Add me people. Let's network. Good luck to all!

  36. How glad am I that I don't have to do this every day? I had completely given up - by the time I saw my first widget, it was on 154 - I thought I was toast - but then I moved up to 130 ( my lucky number is 13, so I asked the Angels for this number - I guess they were listening. Thanks Cupid - you guys are awesome.

  37. I signed up at 9.05pm and thought I had missed it, had to refresh several times and I am on DIAL UP in rural New Zealand!!

And then gift from the blog gods... I am #153.

    So go figure?

  38. For those who had no chance during our second window we are accepting 25 more entries. More info coming soon!

  39. UPDATE!

I don't think the widget failed. This is what I think happened: We had a false start at 5 til. People signed up. We had to delete those early entries, so the widget didn't open till a bit after 9, eventually filled up quickly for those lucky enough to be refreshing at the right time, then closed when it was filled. So some may have never seen it open. Especially on slower internet connections.

So, we are opening a third entry window and taking another extra 25 entries tomorrow! I will update my blog with the exact details asap!

    Thank you!
