Please give a hearty welcome to Bouncer, Elizabeth Briggs! I've known Elizabeth from the Twittosphere, and worked alongside her on contests before. That's how I know she's super friendly and knows her stuff. She's repped by Kate Testerman, and she's one of our intern Bouncers! I couldn't be more pleased to have her with us!
Hi, Elizabeth! Please share a little about yourself:
I write YA sci-fi and I'm represented by Kate
Testerman of KT Literary. I'm an intern for literary agent Jill Corcoran of
Herman Agency, a total geek who goes to Comic Con every year, and a mom to five
fluffy rescue dogs. I'm also a: Browncoat, Ravenclaw, Erudite, Waterbender, and
from District 3 (Technology). (Bonus points to anyone who gets all those
references!)
Now tell us a little about your book(s) or what you
like to write:
Here's the twitter pitch for the book that got me my
agent, ALTERNATE: Teen hacker Sara Morgan is thrust into a war between parallel
universes when she meets an alternate version of herself from another
dimension.
What MUST we read? And what's in your TBR pile?
Everyone should read the His Dark Materials series by
Phillip Pullman. My TBR pile is over 100 books tall (yes, really - I have an
entire bookshelf for it), but I have an ARC of SCARLET by Marissa Meyer that I
plan to read next. I'm very excited!
What are those crumbs around your computer? And what
is that music I hear?
While I write I munch on Peanut Butter M&Ms and
listen to movie scores (currently: Inception).
Is it all about the pants or all about the outline?
Outline! I do a scene by scene outline before I start
writing, but I tweak it a lot as I write, and I make a new outline before I
start revising. I'm all about the spreadsheets and beat sheets.
Any words of wisdom for our brave contest entrants?
Whatever happens, don't give up. Also, be open to
feedback and advice from other people, but stay true to yourself and your book
too.
Now give up your guilty pleasure!
Don't tell anyone, but I watch The Bachelor and The
Bachelorette. They're trashy and ridiculous but I don't care!

Thank you, Elizabeth!

DeleteI love seeing the pictures of your five fluffy dogs. I have a Bichon, too, so it's fun to see her "family".
ReplyDeleteAwesome interview! I only knew the District 3 and Avatar reference...I think airbender is from Avatar with Aang? You may see me here later this week, entering.
